Research Ethics

The purpose of the Research Ethics Board is to protect human participants in research studies. Centre for Clinical Ethics staff are active members of the Research Ethics Boards in the following institutions:

Rouge Valley Health System (Member)
St. Michael’s Hospital (Member and Vice-Chair)
St Joseph’s Health Centre (Member)
St. Joseph’s Hamilton (Member)
Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care (Vice-Chair)

Scholarship

The Centre for Clinical Ethics engages in the following scholarly activities:

  • Presentations at national and international conferences
  • Publishing articles in peer and non – peer reviewed publications
  • Research related to a number of topics such as clinical ethics effectiveness, informed consent, advance care planning, cross -cultural care, human rights, values integration, ethics debriefings, professionalism etc.
