Rosalind (Roz) Abdool is a full-time ethicist at Trillium Health Partners. She also provides ethics services to the Mississauga Halton LHIN Home and Community Care Ethics Forum through the Regional Ethics Program. Roz formerly provided ethics consultation services through the Centre for Clinical Ethics at Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare in Windsor, ON.
Roz completed her Doctoral Degree at the University of Waterloo in Philosophy, specializing in both ethics and bioethics in 2015. She also completed the Centre for Clinical Ethics’ Fellowship Program in Clinical and Organizational Ethics in partnership with the University of Toronto’s Joint Centre for Bioethics at St. Joseph’s Health Centre, St. Michael’s Hospital and Providence Health Care in Toronto. Rosalind has presented internationally at the International Academy of Law and Mental Health Congress and at the World Congress for Psychiatric Nurses. She regularly presents nationally at the Canadian Bioethics Society Annual Conference, in addition to being an adjunct lecturer through the Dalla Lana School of Public Health Masters of Health Sciences Program at the University of Toronto. She has also published in Nursing Ethics and served in the Membership and Fundraising Coordinator roles for the Canadian Bioethics Society.
Her areas of expertise include ethics in complex continuing care, medicine, children and adult mental health and palliative care, as well as in applying theoretical concepts to tangible dilemmas. Her research interests include health equity and challenges of social justice in our evolving healthcare system.
